Bring your project to life in the MakerLab! This is a collaborative space where a staff member is available to show you how to use a machine. There's no experience required, and the project possibilities are endless! Register for an appointment and discover a new way to create!There are no library card or residency requirements!Ages: adults and teens ages 16 and upRegister for a 1.5 or 2-hour time block by stopping by the circulation desk or calling us at 815-932-6245Please bring your own materials (details below).
Available Machines:
Cricut: Bring a few sheets of cardstock and choose from several projects! Bring heat transfer vinyl & a shirt, and we’ll help you create a custom t-shirt! Bring a tumbler, water bottle, or mug and some permanent outdoor adhesive vinyl & we'll help you turn it into a unique gift!
Cricut Heat Press: This machine will fuse your custom vinyl design onto a shirt or fabric bag! Bring your own heat-transfer vinyl & the clothing item.
Cricut Mug Press: Bring a mug, and we’ll help you add your own design! Bring a straight-walled sublimation-compatible mug to use our infusible ink markers and create your own design.
AccuQuilt Fabric Cutter: We have several different-shaped dies for you to choose from! Ask us about them over the phone, or stop in to browse. Bring your own fabric. If you need to iron your fabric, please do that before you arrive.
Button Maker: You may design your button on a MakerLab laptop, then print your design before using the Button Maker. The library charges 15 cents per page for black-and-white copies and 30 cents per page for color copies.
-We have 2 button sizes: a 1.25-inch and a 2.25-inch. The cost is 10 cents per pinback button or 25 cents per flatback.
-A flatback will give you the ability to glue a magnet to the back- perfect for displaying on your refrigerator!
-The 2.25-inch will accept photo paper! You may bring photos from home and turn them into a button.
