Here’s some information on the different types of camps offered at Camp Shaw:
Youth Camp for Ages 7–17
Camp Shaw's classic youth camp is open to campers aged 7 to 15 and runs in 5-day, 4-night sessions from Sunday afternoon to Thursday afternoon. For older teens, Camp Shaw offers a CIT (Counselor-in-Training) program for 16- and 17-year-olds, designed to develop leadership skills and prepare them for future roles as camp staff.
Campers and CIT's unplug completely during their stay, since there are no screens or electronics allowed. This allows campers to fully immerse themselves in cabin life, friendships, and outdoor fun.
Daily activities cover everything from arts and crafts to ziplining, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Campers also enjoy swimming and playing in Rock Creek, a natural waterway that winds through the heart of the camp. The two sides of the creek are joined by a wide and sturdy bridge, making it easy to access all areas of the grounds.
Extreme Camp

For those seeking a bit more adventure, Camp Shaw’s Extreme Camp runs for 7 days and 6 nights, from Sunday afternoon through Saturday morning. Open to kids ages 7 to 17, this week-long program includes more time outdoors and more independence. Campers are given the option to sleep in tents instead of cabins, and some meals are cooked outdoors as part of the experience. Compared to the general youth camp experience, this is a bit more rugged.
Family Camp Weekend

Camp Shaw isn’t just for kids. Their Family Camp Weekend offers a memorable retreat for all ages. Each group is assigned a cabin that can accommodate up to 10 people, which is perfect for extended families or a couple of family friends looking for a getaway.
There are optional evening programs and campfires, but during the day, you're free to spend time however you'd like: hiking, exploring Rock Creek, relaxing, or trying your hand at classic camp activities. Check-in is Friday afternoon, and checkout is Sunday morning.
Shoe Fest
In addition to its youth and family offerings, Camp Shaw is also home to Shoe Fest, a family-friendly music and camping festival held every Labor Day weekend. This annual event draws people from across the midwest for a weekend of live music, community, and outdoor fun.
There is a designated family camping area at Shoe Fest, each stage has a kids bubble area, and some of the live music is even tailored towards children. It is even possible to rent a cabin for the long weekend and share the space with some friends and families of your choosing.
